1. They are pack animals – they thrive in being part of a group , they need order and a sense of where they stand in the pack. In a pack , different dogs play different roles , and this kind of order gives them clarity on what is required of them – which in turn gives them predictability – and hence comfort. The sense of being part of a pack gives them a sense of security and makes them happy
2. They do not verbalize most of their communication – while they do communicate by barking and making sounds, they are primarily “body language” following creatures
3. Like human children , while they have instincts they are born with , they still need to learn their way around the world
4. Unlike the human world , the world of animals ( though this is NOT fully applicable to dogs since the centuries of domestication) has more “structured” way of life…there is a “routine” which revolves around the need to eat and keep themselves and their pack safe.
